Still just about in the land of the living…
I’m sorry, I know you’ve all been dying to hear about the wedding. Me, I’ve just been dying. I woke up on Monday feeling awful. Sore throat… weak… no appetite… couldn’t stop coughing. Somehow managed to drag myself into work then left again at 1 because I could not concentrate. I was home by 2:30pm, in bed by 3 and, other then a brief trip to the kitchen for Lemsip, I stayed there until it was time to get up the next morning. On Tuesday I managed to stay at work for the whole day but by the time I was on the train home I was back to feeling awful, so once again I went straight to bed. I haven’t even been reading Katyboo’s blog or Belgian Waffling that should tell you how bad it was! (No, it’s not Swine Flu to answer the first question my mother asked when she phoned to see how I was).
Do you know what the worst thing is about being ill as an adult? There’s nobody to look after you. If I’d been 10 I’d have had people bringing me medicine and Heinz cream of chicken soup while insisting I stayed in bed. As a 26 year old I had to cook my own food (half of which ended up in the bin as until yesterday I still had no appetite) and fetch my own medicine (Lemsip, Strepsils and random tea that’s meant to help with colds). And nobody could care less whether I was tucked up in bed or sitting in my freezing cold living room waiting for the kettle to boil.
Thankfully I seem to be on the road to recovery now. I don’t think I could have stood another week of this (and anyway, I have to go to Cologne on Thursday evening for a 2 day seminar and I really, really don’t feel like being ill during that…)

hope you get better soon!
it’s so true that it sucks being sick as an adult. i live by myself so when i’m sick and feel like dying…that’s when i realize being an adult AND being single sucks big time.
you sure it’s not piggies? seems like there is no other disease around these days…

Gah
Poor you. Still, I have to say, the grass is always greener. Your peace and quiet whilst ill sounds blissful to me.
Hope you feel better soon! And seriously, make your boyfriend take care of you! That’s what they are for, you know.
Franzi – I think swine flu lasts longer than a week though?
Katy – I want peace when I’m sleeping but when I’m awake and coughing so hard I’m nearly sick I don’t want to have to track down my own bottle of water
Amanda – That news doesn’t seem to have made it to my boyfriend yet though…
Not gonna lie, my boyfriend probably wouldn’t take care of me either. Not unless I whined enough. But I am pretty good at that…
