After another weekend away from the blogosphere I am slowly, slowly starting to catch up with all the blogs I like to read. If I haven’t left you a comment yet I will soon… there’s just so much to get through!
My friend’s visit went well. There was lots going on, but we managed to fit everything in and get her back to the train station in time on Sunday. So I think we can label the weekend a success.
And now, after over a week of day trips, fun and visitors, today’s task is to write and submit a proposal for my dissertation, which I will hopefully be starting to write in September. Wish me luck… I’ve never written a proper dissertation proposal before! (For my Bachelor’s dissertation we had to submit a plan but it was nothing like what I’m expected to do for this one!)

When DD was starting her thesis last year, she got so little guidance that it was ridiculous. She had no clue what or how to write her proposal, all she had was her idea, so she wrote what she thought would work, emailed it to her “advisor” and waited. He got back to her pretty quickly, with the comment, “No one ever told you how to do these things, did they?” He had her come to his office and then the advising on the proposal and the resulting thesis actually began, so it all worked out in the end. I hope the process toward your dissertation is MUCH smoother!
Oh my! I hope so too! Mine was actually supposed to be in by 29th June, but I only found that out 2 weeks ago!! Then had to email the person in charge twice because the first time I got a message back saying the email address didn’t exist. Hopefully things can only get better from this point…
