Since this first December weekend was a rare one in which we had no plans, I decided it was time for some Christmas baking. After all, it is the month of all the sweet treats! I used Nigella’s recipe for Chocolate Christmas Biscuits, but I added in some cinnamon and vanilla along with the cocoa powder because I don’t see how just sticking some sprinkles on top magically makes a biscuit Christmassy! You can’t really taste the cinnamon, but I know it’s there and that’s what counts π
Here are some of the biscuits fresh from the oven:
Instead of making cocoa powder/icing sugar/water icing, I decided to melt white chocolate for the decoration. My initial plan was to make some of the biscuits look like Christmas puddings and just put some white chocolate in the middle of the others and then decorate with sparkly things, but I quickly got bored of that and started drawing random patterns with white chocolate. When you bear in mind that I did all my drawing with a teaspoon I think they came out okay!
Apart from the Christmas puddings, I think the Christmas trees are my favourite!
Have you done any Christmas baking yet this year? What’s your favourite Christmas biscuit (I still have 3 more types of biscuits to bake for my 35 before 35… give me ideas!)
Wow, that is very impressive decoration for being done with a teaspoon!
I have a whole pile of German Christmas cookie recipes my distant cousin gave me, I’m thinking I should try some more of them this year…
Thank you. I was quite impressed too.
These are so cute! I’ve made mince pies so far, I’m still deciding what else I want to bake! xx
I remember making mince pies in school once! I haven’t tried it on my own though.
How delicious, great work ! Thanks for sharing and have a great week π
Those look really good! I love the Christmas tree too. I don’t have any good recipes, my German mother in law normally bakes an insane amount of biscuits around Christmas time! Oh man, so much eating…
Jan liked the Christmas tee and the Christmas puddings π
Wow, they look fab! Nigella may be a tad annoying but she does have some great recipes. This one went down very well last Christmas: https://www.nigella.com/recipes/chocolate-salame
Oooh, that looks tasty too! Nigella does have amazing recipes.
Oooh they do look tasty! I’ll come over for tea at 11, yes???
I am not really one for baking but frequently get embroiled when my husband bites off more than he can chew and gets in a panic and things go wrong and I have to come and help most unwillingly!
LOL, poor you! I can just imagine having to help when you reeeeally want to be doing something else!
I do like your icing skills! Definitely better than mine. The Christmas puddings are a definitely favourite for me!
These are about 7,000 times better than my attempts at robots last year!
Jan thought I should have made all of them Christmas puddings.
They look very good. π My Christmas baking schedule is very behind this year, but I have finally bought the ingredients to make my mince pies – hopefully this weekend.
These look yummy!! ππ
They were. You can’t go wrong with a Nigella recipe π
