Inspiration is a funny thing. The other day, while smearing anti-wrinkle cream under my eyes and humming The Beautiful South’s Prettiest Eyes, I thought of a poem – hey, if they can write about crows feet why not me? I thought I would share that poem with you now.
The Eyes Have It
My whole life
Is mapped below my eyes.
Bags of sleepless nights,
A line for every laugh,
And every tortured thought.
All my regrets and recriminations
My sorrows and my joys
Writ large,
For all to see.
All comments appreciated, even critical ones (but constructive criticism please – don’t just be mean!).
Wow I really like this! You should write more (not necessarily about crowβs feet but just in general!) But seriously, anti-wrinkle cream at you age π²
Gotta catch them early π
Thank you lovely. I have written other poems, but I don’t usually put them on here. I think I have once before, years ago (if I remember right, that post got zero comments!)
I think that that is really profound! Even more hidden talents are rising to the surface…what will you reveal next, I wonder?!
Aww, thank you. I’m wondering what hidden talents I had revealed up to now. Is reading a lot a hidden talent? π
I think it must be! I was thinking your beautiful cross stitch in particular and card making in general π
Ohh, cross stitch. I didn’t even think of that. LOL. To be fair I just stitch ’em… the designers are responsible for most of the beauty.
It’s still very clever π
Loved this! Especially βWrit large for all to seeβ ππ
Thank you!
Love it. π x
Thanks! π
It’s a wonderful poem!!! Much better than the awful poems I sometimes post!!
Aww, thank you lovely.
That’s really good! π
