Yes, I’m late jumping on this bandwagon because it’s taken me this long to decide on most of my goals for the year. Also, how is it that we’re an entire week into the New Year already? (For the record, I initially typed 2018 in the title so clearly my brain hasn’t caught up yet). My goals fall into three basic categories: reading, cleaning and healthy eating. Here they are:
Reading goals
- Read 100 books (Good Reads challenge goal). Of these:
- 10 should be non-fiction
- 12 should be from the BBC Big Read list
- 20 should have been on my to-read list before 2019 started
Cleaning goals
- Deep clean once per month. To include:
- Cleaning the bathrooms including mopping floors
- Cleaning the kitchen including mopping floor and cleaning the oven (bolded because I will clean that damn oven regularly if it kills me! Gah.)
- Changing bedding
- Dusting
- Hoovering, taking away recycling, etc. as needed (although I do those things regularly anyway)
Healthy eating goals
- Eat 5 or more portions of fruit and veg on at least 3 days per week
- Have nuts/fruit as snacks instead of chocolate and crisps
- A maximum of 2 cups of black tea per day
- Drink at least 2 pint glasses of water per day
My one other goal/wish/hope for 2019 is, of course, to get pregnant again and this time actually get a baby at the end of it, but that one is kind of out of my hands (thanks useless body!) and therefore doesn’t really belong here.
I won’t ask what your goals are because I feel like everyone who isn’t me actually managed to decide and post theirs before the year was a whole week old!
Was I supposed to post some goals?!?! π₯Ί
Haha, only if you want to π
I like the stuffed pepper photo…they are sooo good! Great goals – I am, as always, envious of your reading capabilities…good luck completing that one. Drinking more water is always something I feel I should do, yet I always fall short. My oven has a self-clean option…hooray for modern technology! (It still doesn’t mean I set it up to clean as often as I should though π)
The photo has made me want to make it again. I love a stuffed pepper!
I have read 2 books so far this year… but apparently that puts me ahead of schedule so yay?!
If only landlords would provide self-cleaning ovens π
That’s definitely some achievement! Ah, if only. But I haven’t found landlords to be generally inclined towards perks like that π
I haven’t decided on mine yet. It always takes me a while…
These things can’t be rushed π
One of my goals is to catch up on writing old blog posts so I can make new blog posts about things like goals without feeling like I’m behind on writing blog posts. Haha. What I’m saying is that I also haven’t posted about my goals. But I’m turning 35 on Saturday, so… that’s my personal new year.
What a sentence. Haha. Your birthday seems like a good day to start.
Well, I was busy enjoying an island getaway all weekend, but luckily we have a three-day weekend coming up so maybe I’ll make more progress!
I posted my goals yesterday so donβt worry about the timing. I hope you are able to reach all of your goals.
Thank you. I hope you achieve yours π
I really should limit my coffee intake in 2019. LOL. I like the black tea restriction. Good luck with reading & cleaning- I’m hoping to be better about that stuff, too.
I rarely drink coffee so I’m okay on that front. I feel like I should reduce caffeine in preparation for hopefully being pregnant again this year π
Wishing you well keeping to all of those goals – but especially the one that’s out of your hands!!
Thank you π Hoping the universe listens!
I still haven’t posted my goals yet, so you’re ahead of me! LOL I really do need to work on being more active and eating healthy, but I want to break these things down into smaller monthly goals to make it more attainable.

Good luck! Monthly goals is a good idea, but I know I would give up after about 3 months. Haha.
ooh i love the ‘should have been on my to-read list before 2019 started’ – i am really bad about that, adding a book to my list and then reading it 3 years later.
i hate hate hate hate cleaning my oven lol.
obviously i hope we both are able to get – and stay – pregnant this year. i hate how out of our hands it is, but we’ve already talked this into the ground, so moving on and focusing on other things π
hope 2019 is a great year for you!
I’m terrible – I actually have books on my shelves that moved to Switzerland with us. I must have wanted to read them when I bought them so whyyyyy haven’t I read them?!
Ha, yes… it does feel like we’ve talked this subject to death. Definitely good to focus on other things. I can’t put my life on hold just in case this pregnancy thing actually happens!
What is ‘cleaning the oven’? I have never done this (no really- I know I am disgusting but I haven’t!) Also, how often IS one supposed to change the bedding- it seems I’m not very good at it.
I think I should aim to read more non-fiction since I only read one really non-fiction book last year. I’ve got one about insects (a DK discovery one) so maybe that’s a good start.
I should do the same re crisps and choc. As I’ve sat here reading your blog, I’ve eaten about 20 flumps from a party we went to last night and I’d JUST been thinking about eating some satsumas- ioops!
Wish I’d used my weekend better- I woke up at 11.30 yesterday AND today and didnt get dressed till 12.30!!!
Haha. I have to clean my oven after a while or the smell of burnt on food gets through the entire flat. I haaaaate doing it though so I always put it off as long as possible.
I’m not sure how often you’re supposed to change bedding, but I’m fairly sure the length of time I leave it is too long.
