Hello! After publishing my last post about our current living situation I thought it might be nice to make a little series out of it to document the progress that’s being made. Given that tomorrow is a holiday and the builders will therefore not be coming, tonight seemed like a good time for another report as the state right now is what we’ll be living with on our day off work.
First I want to show you the sink I mentioned in my previous post:
Washing dishes is a pain, which is why we’ve been eating out a lot.
That pipe in the kitchen has now been enclosed, and today some cupboards appeared. Yay!
I mean, so far they have no door handles and don’t seem to be attached, but you’ve got to take what you can get.
Here are the bathrooms. Apparently they just aren’t going to bother removing the tiles in the second one. Whatever. As long as I don’t have to see them any more in all their 80s glory π
The corridor is absolutely full of stuff, which I’m hoping means even more progress will be made on Thursday. (It also has no electricity so excuse the terrible lighting).
So, something has definitely happened since my last post but we still have a way to go. Here’s to the next few weeks going fast!
Annoying now, but all these renovations are so exciting!! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end π
i can’t wait to see it all finished! hope the next few weeks go by super fast. yay cupboards!
Yay cupboards indeed. Hoping to see an oven soon π
You are so much calmer than I would be in this situation. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
I don’t really have a choice π We are pretty much trying to be there as little as possible.
Still. When they were doing plumbing stuff on our place in December I was on the βif I donβt have a bathroom for the night, you can pay for my hotel roomβ train.
I wanted to get an apartment, at least for the first two weeks i.e. right now (which according to the building firm is the “worst part” and they advised us to go to relatives or on holiday) but Jan said nope, not unless they pay for it, which they won’t so I am stuck here! The shower part is actually okay… it’s more the dust EVERYWHERE and my corridor being an actual obstacle course that’s annoying me.
Are they at least giving you a month of free rent for the inconvenience? It must be especially hard for those of you who work from home.
We are getting some compensation that I think amounts to 1 or 1.5 months rent. Although our rent will go up once it’s all finished to reflect the improvements.
Ah, yeah. The ever rising rent! I wish it would just stop already.
I’m inwardly screaming at the though of it! You are much more patient than me!
We don’t really have a choice π We are definitely complaining a lot more about the dust than I let on in this post though!
It’s a good excuse to eat out π
It’s an exciting time though, despite the inconvenience and the dust! I really enjoy getting stuck into diy and home improvements.
Haha, yes. I’ve never eaten out so much in my life!
