A couple’s day in lockdown, April 2020

I saw a few people doing “my day in quarantine” on their Instagram stories and I thought it would be fun to do something like that here, but a couple’s version. Also, I don’t call mine “quarantine” because people in quarantine don’t get to leave the house. My uncle was in quarantine for potential exposure because he had been in Tirol and he had to stay in his flat for 14 days and his daughter wasn’t allowed to come home from her mum’s for that entire time. If you can do your own shopping and see family members you’re not in quarantine! Anyway… rant about semantics over. This was Easter Saturday – I’ve just been too lazy to sort out the photos until now.

10 a.m.

Jan: Sleeping. (I took a photo of our bed the night before specifically for this purpose!)

Me: Making a cuppa, because that’s how I always start my day.

11 a.m.

Jan: Still sleeping.

Me: Getting some reading in before Jan emerges and the TV goes on.

12 noon.

Jan: In bed. Where else?

Me: Thought it was about time I actually ate something!

1 p.m.

Jan: No change 😂

Me: Time for a shower.

2 p.m.

Jan: Apparently got up while I was in the shower. No watching TV and eating breakfast.

Me: Reading is out, so now I’m colouring.

3 p.m.

Jan: Watching the news while playing a game on his phone.

Me: Watching the news and continuing to colour.

4 p.m.

Jan: Even when all live sport is cancelled, my boyfriend manages to find football!

Me: Finished my picture.

(Immediately after I took those photos Jan went for a shower and I hoovered the flat, but at photo time the above is what we were doing)

5 p.m.

Both: Our for a walk. Hello ducks!

6 p.m.

Both: Still walking. Said hi to some goats.

At 7 p.m. we were still out, walking towards home, but I forgot to take photos. It wouldn’t have been very interesting anyway since we came back along a busier road.

8 p.m.

Jan: Ordering food for us (and then he went and emptied the dishwasher).

Me: Getting started on my blog post for April’s Show Us Your Books.

9 p.m.

Both: Food came – and we also ordered some Italian soft drink things (that is actually not Coke!)

10 p.m.

Both: Watching Indiana Jones, apparently?! I had never seen it before. It was terrible! (He made me watch the next film the following night. It was even more terrible!)

I stopped taking photos after that. I took my book to bed and read until it was finished. Jan stayed up watching TV until I don’t know when.

And that is a snapshot of how each of us coped on one specific day in lockdown (or semi-lockdown really, since we’re still allowed out to buy food and go for long walks).

I also have an “official” photo an hour post still to come. That one will just be what I was doing. This couple’s was just something I thought would be fun.

I hope everyone is doing okay out there. Keep staying home. It will be worth it in the end!

A Photo An Hour – Saturday, 27 August 2016

Yesterday was August’s photo an hour link up with Jane and Louisa, and here I am actually writing my blog post the day after. Will wonders never cease? Here’s what I got up to:

9 a.m. Stop the press! My first photo is not of a cup of tea! We had no milk so I had to shower first then run out and get some.

10 a.m. Aaah, there’s the tea! You can stop panicking now 😉 I also bought myself a yoghurt fruit roll from the shop – they’re very tasty!

11 a.m. Checking out some cross stitch patterns while I wait for Jan to come out of the shower.

12 noon. Jan had to go to a choir practice weekend so I went into town with him. At 12 I was roasting to death in Basel. The immature among you should take a close look at the names of the shops on the right. *Snigger*

1 p.m. Still in town – seriously starting to question my sanity at this point! Nobody should be walking around when it’s 34°C (“real feel 38°C” according to Accuweather!). For the above photo I swear I didn’t even have to cheat… I saw the blackboard, took the photo then realised it was 1 p.m. and I needed a photo anyway!

2 p.m. Home. After 20 minutes and lots of water I’m finally starting to recover from the heat of town!

3 p.m. Just colouring my unicorn (and pretending not to notice that the flat needs tidying…)

4 p.m. Ventured onto the balcony with a cuppa and my book. Yes, I drink hot tea when it’s a million degrees. It’s a British thing.

5 p.m. Had to come back inside when the sun came round further and stole my shade. Still reading.

6 p.m. Tea time! Being home alone means I get to shove stuff in the over and call it “cooking”. It also means I get to eat alphabet potato things because my mental age is 5 😉

7 p.m. I found Ab Fab on BBC Entertainment!

8 p.m. Sorting out some photos for a future blog post. To be quite honest I was a bit bored by this point.

9 p.m. Back to reading, but this time in bed.

10 p.m. Still reading. Must finish Megan’s challenge!

At 10:30 p.m. I went to bed… no further photos were needed since I managed an even number.

What did you do with your Saturday?

A photo an hour: Sunday 12 June 2016

*I tried to write this post yesterday, but WordPress was having none of it, so let’s try again!*

Sundays are always the worst photo an hour days, mostly because there’s nothing to do in Switzerland. I’m not even supposed to hoover! (Although I sometimes hoover the bathrooms anyway since the fan in there is louder than my hoover and nobody would tell me I can’t shower on Sundays!). So welcome to the most boring photo an hour ever 😉

10:30 a.m. Starting the day with a cuppa. One of these days I’m going to start reusing pics from previous photo and hour posts to see whether anyone notices 😉

11:30 a.m. Folding some clean clothes. Can’t put them away yet since Jan is still sleeping…

12:30 p.m. Making scrambled eggs for lunch.

1:30 p.m. Herbal tea time.

2:30 p.m. Watching the news (also, I feel the need to point out that I showered between the last photo and this one. I wasn’t smelly all day!)

3:30 p.m. Jan put football on, but this was the match I had least interest in that day (sorry Turkey and Croatia!) so I only half paid attention to it while colouring in my new colouring book.

4:30 p.m. Still colouring, now with tea!

5:30 p.m. Starting to make some healthy snacks for a picnic type dinner.

6:30 p.m. Snacks!

7:30 p.m. Courgette crisps… kind of. They weren’t all that crispy. More experimentation needed. (I suppose you can call them zucchini chips if you like, but I prefer alliteration!)

8:30 p.m. Ready to support Ukraine! (Sorry Germany – I’ll support you again in other matches)

9:30 p.m. Watching football.

10:30 p.m. Football still on… keeping me up past my bedtime. Disappointed that Ukraine didn’t manage even one goal.

11:15 p.m. I didn’t want to wait up an extra 15 minutes for the hour, but I needed an even number of photos 😉 Didn’t really know what to take a photo of on my way to bed, so this is my glass of water on the bedside table.

That’s all. Told you it was boring!

Linking up with Jane and Louisa, as always.
