Foodie Penpals September 2015 Reveal

My foodie penpals package for September is heeere!
I was excited to receive it this month (even more so than usual I mean) because the person sending to me is someone I know pretty well from blogging and even met once – the lovely Charlotte. This month’s parcel was a giant envelope, so on opening it I tipped it all out on the floor:

FoodCheck out those noms! Here’s a more detailed look at what my parcel contained:

Fruit bearsA strawberry bear and a raspberry bear. I’m not 100% sure what these are but I can’t wait to find out!

ChocolateBritish chocolatey goodness ❤

GrazeThis is really cool! Chocolate pieces, raisins, dried cranberries and cherries in a little pack. Immediately after I finished taking the photos I ripped this open and devoured it. It was delicious – and it counts as one of my five a day!

Food mixesThe savoury stuff. A sausage casserole mixture and some Jamie Oliver stuffing mix that sounds amazing!

Skittles“The dark side of Skittles”. I’m very intrigued by these.

Green tea Finally, some fruity green tea that says it’s good for my immune system. Charlotte said she included this so I wouldn’t catch another bad cold – how thoughtful is that?

She also sent me this cute pasta postcard (the rules say you must include something written with the food – it is supposed to be “penpals” after all!).

Pasta postcardI’ve been totally spoiled with this months package. So many treats! Thank you Charlotte 🙂

As for me, I was again sending to somebody without a blog. Alice, from England, told me she’s gluten intolerant, which ruled out a lot of the traditional Swiss things I usually send. This is what I ended up putting together for her:

Swiss parcelAmazingly, I managed to squidge all of that into one rather small box. Check it out:

If you want to take part in Foodie Penpals, you can read the rules and sign up here. (This is the European version, for those of you in the US/Canada, the original Foodie Penpals on The Lean Green Bean is here.). Matches go out on the 5th of each month and the deadline for sending packages is the 20th. It’s a lot of fun and if you do decide to sign up I promise you won’t regret it!

Begone headache!

I have a headache. I had a headache last night as well. Yesterday I thought it was caused by sitting in front of a big window at work with the sun streaming in directly onto my head. I’m the only person in the world who can get too much sun without even going out in the sun! Last night I drank lots of water and green tea, had soup for tea (liquid and salt – good against dehydration and also helpful in replacing the stuff you lose by sweating). By the time I went to bed I still had a headache, but once I was in bed and the room was dark it eased off enough for me to go to sleep.

And now I have a headache again. It started at around 1pm. Luckily I was sent home from my internship early again cos there was no work for me to do. Today I haven’t been sitting in the sun. I was sitting in front of the window, but the blinds were down. OK, the little slitty things were open to let the light in, but there was no sun shining directly on me. It was nice and shady. This is not a too much sun type headache.
I thought it might be dehydration. I did drink at work, but only a cup of green tea and one glass of water. So I spent the entire tram ride home alternately drinking my water and putting it on my forehead. It seemed to help a little, but the headache was still there when I got home. So I drank a bottle and a half of water (half litre bottles this is), sprayed myself with some nice cool water and went to bed for an hour. The headache was gone when I woke up, but as soon as I got up to go to the loo it came back again. That was three hours ago. Since then I’ve drank another two bottles of water . The only affect they seem to have is making me want to pee. I don’t think it’s dehydration somehow! The only thing that seems to help is spraying water at my face and the top of my head. My hair is currently soaking. I was hoping to get rid of the pain naturally, but I may have to take a painkiller soon. I need to go into town and buy something for lunch tomorrow.

If anyone has a) any idea what might be causing my headache or b) an instant headache cure other than what I’ve already tried please leave a message in my comments box. As long as it’s nothing too weird (or poisonous) I’m willing to try it!
