Three Days, Three Quotes third time lucky, day 3

It is the third and final day of my third time doing this challenge. I was nominated by Irish Procrastinator.

The rules

1. Thank the person who nominated you – Danke, merci, gracias!

2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

3. Nominate three bloggers each day.

Today’s quote has been attributed to various people, but it is thought to have originated from a Scottish author named Ian Maclaren, real name Rev. John Watson. I feel like I see versions of it everywhere, all the time, but it’s no less true for being ubiquitous.

Ian Mclaren quote

I know it’s hard to be nice to people who are rude or mean to you, but it’s always good to try and remember that we have no idea what those people are currently going through. And even people who appear happy and smiley may be anything but. Nobody has a perfect life and the absolute least we can do for each other is just be kind!

I am ignoring rule 3 and not nominating anybody, but if you would like to do this please feel free to consider yourself nominated!

Three Days, Three Quotes – third time lucky – day 2

It is day two of my third go at this challenge. This time I was nominated by Irish Procrastinator.

The rules state:

1. Thank the person who nominated you – THANK YOU!

2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

3. Nominate three bloggers each day.

Today’s quote is actually one I only heard relatively recently. At the weekend, we drove down to the Munich region for a family event and on the way back we listened to part of the audiobook of M is for Magic, a short story collection by Neil Gaiman. The quote actually comes from the introduction, which I probably wouldn’t have read in a physical book but for some reason we listened to it.

Neil Gaiman quote

If you know me even a little bit I don’t have to explain why those words immediately resonated with me.

I am breaking rule three and not nominating anyone since most people I would have chosen have already done this at least once. But if you would like to join in then please consider yourself nominated!

Three Days, Three Quotes – third time lucky

I was nominated for this challenge a third time, this time by Irish Procrastinator (ages and ages ago!). She is currently taking a break from blogging, but hopefully she will see my contributions at some point.

The rules, once more:

1. Thank the person who nominated you – thank you kindly, my dear.

2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

3. Nominate three bloggers each day.

Today’s quote is from the song “No Time to Sleep” by Tina Dico. I find it quite thought-provoking.

Tina Dico quote

I’m breaking rule number three again and not nominating anybody but if you would like to do this (again) consider yourself nominated!

If you would like to listen to the song, here you are:

Three Days, 3 Quotes Take 2, Day 3

Today is the third and final day of my second attempt at the three days, three quotes challenge. This time around, I was nominated by She from This Door is Alarmed. Thank you very much for the nomination!

Here are the rules, which I have already broken:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post a quote for three consecutive days. (I am going to redesign ‘consecutive’ to mean ‘when you are able’ for my purposes.)
  3. Nominate three bloggers for each post.

For today’s post, I have chosen a quote from the Welcome to Night Vale novel (the first one, which is simply called Welcome to Night Vale). As we all know, Night Vale is a bizarre place (and if you don’t know what have you been doing with your life? Please go and listen to the pod cast!), but it’s people are just as human as any of us, with all the emotions, thoughts and communication difficulties that go along with that. So often what Cecil tells me seems to apply very well to our own, slightly less bizarre, world. Here’s one of my favourite lines from the novel:

Night Vale quote

It seems about right to me!

I’m not nominating anyone this time round as everyone I think might play has already done it. So if you would like a turn then please consider yourself nominated!

Three Days, Three Quotes Take 2, Day 2

Yes, I do in fact know what “consecutive” means, but I forgot to schedule a post for yesterday then I was in the office all day and by the time I got home, ate, etc. I didn’t feel like writing one, so day two of this tag is a day late. Whatever, it’s not like anyone’s waiting to tell me off.

I was nominated by She from This Door is Alarmed. Thank you so much for thinking of me!

Here are the rules, of which I’ve already broken one and will be breaking another:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post a quote for three consecutive days.
  3. Nominate three bloggers for each post.

For today’s quote, I decided to pick something from one of my favourite books – Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. There are many quotable lines in this book, but I decided to go with this one:

Good Omens quote

It can be helpful to remember that, for the most part, people are just people – they all have flaws, but they also have good qualities. Very few people are bad through and through, just as nobody is perfect.

I am not nominating anybody this time round, as everyone I would have picked has done it already, but if you would like to play (again) let me know and I’ll nominate you tomorrow.

Three Days, Three Quotes Take 2

I have been nominated again for the three days, three quotes challenge – this time by She of This Door is Alarmed. I will be breaking the rules slightly this time though since I’ve run out of people to nominate! If anybody would like to do this (or do it again) let me know and I’ll nominate you tomorrow.

Rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post a quote for three consecutive days.
  3. Nominate three bloggers for each post.

I have seen the following quote around a lot (there was even a pattern to stitch it in one of my cross-stitch magazines!) but I can’t seem to find its origin. Some sources say it’s an Irish proverb, although I feel like anything that sounds profound is assumed to be an Irish proverb. Anyway, I should probably show you the quote:

life is like tea quote

Inspirational and involving tea… how could you go wrong?

Since I’m feeling generous, here’s another tea-themed quote. This one it seems actually is an Irish proverb, although it’s usually misattributed to Eleanor Roosevelt.

teabag quote

Basically you never know how much you can take until you actually face challenges… but with tea, which makes everything better.

I hope your day is like a perfect cup of tea (or coffee or gin and tonic, whatever you prefer).

Come back tomorrow for another quote.

Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge – Day 3

It’s the third and final day of this quotes challenge. Those who have been paying attention will know I was nominated by Irish Procrastinator. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet you really, really should.

The rules, for the unlikely event that you’ve forgotten them since yesterday:

1. Thank the person who nominated you.

2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

3. Nominate three bloggers each day.

For today’s quote, I am going back to books. After all, I am primarily a reader. This time it’s from The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

Life takes us to unexpected places sometimes. The future is never set in stone, remember that.

I like the idea that a decision I make now could set me on an entirely different path, to a different future than that I had been heading towards. Far better than thinking no amount of time, effort or money can stop me from ending up exactly where destiny had decreed I should be. I mean, what if destiny (or fate or the universe – whatever you want to call it) had planned for me to end up childless, destitute and alone? I would like to think that’s a fate I can avoid by making the right decisions.

Today I would like to nominate:

Megan

Hazel

Sharon

Please don’t feel you have to join in, but if you do I’m excited to see your quotes.

Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge – Day 2

It’s day two of the three quotes challenge, for which I was nominated by the wonderfully hilarious Irish Procrastinator.

A reminder of the rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you.

2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

3. Nominate three bloggers each day.

Yesterday’s quote was from a book. Today, I decided to go with a song lyric.

Well it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table, but you only want the ones that you can't get

Sometimes it’s really hard not to spend all your time thinking about the things you want in life while ignoring the fact that things are actually pretty nice the way they are – especially when everybody else seems to have the one thing you want! This serves as a reminder to me to look around once in a while and realise how fortunate I really am.

Also, I just really love that song. In fact, I’m going to include another quote from it. I know the rules say one… but if it’s from the same song it’s like only having one quote – right?

It may be raining, but there's a rainbow above you

Basically every cloud has a silver lining, or every bad situation has some good in it.

Today I nominate:

Elaine

Lyndsay

Ericka

Again, please feel free not to take part if you would prefer not to!

Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge – Day 1

I was nominated for this challenge by Irish Procrastinator – if you haven’t read her blog yet why not? It is ace! I love a good quote, so the real challenge here will be picking only three.  I hope my little offerings can live up to her expectations!

1. Thank the person who nominated you – muchas gracias my lovely!

2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).

3. Nominate three bloggers each day.

For my first quote, I have chosen the late, great Sir Terry Pratchett. Given events in the world today, this seemed appropriate.

Pratchett quote

Small Gods isn’t my favourite Discworld book, but I do love this quote.

Be the potato of defiance you wish to see in the world!

My nominees for today are:

Kezzie

Alison

Beth

I think you three will have some great quotes to share. But please don’t worry about playing along if you prefer not to!
