Just let me SLEEP!

I know, I know: I promised to get back to blogging regularly then failed yet again. I’m sorry! I’m just so tired at the moment… I can barely string a coherent sentence together, let alone write an entire blog post! This morning I hit snooze on my alarm, think I would just have five more minutes… only to wake up half an hour later wondering why it was light already! It’s a good job I have flexi-time at work… plus enough overtime saved up to make up for the fact that I’ve already worked about 2 hours less than I should have this week. And today was only Wednesday. Two more whole days before the weekend and sleeep… plus a trip to IKEA to spend the money my Grandma gave us. Yes, I lead such an exciting life.
Anyway, Jan is out tonight (he has choir practice), so I suppose I’d better go and attempt to make some food for myself. I’m thinking Supernoodles are the way forward! I won’t promise to write again soon, cos we all know how well that worked out last time… however, I will post some more photos of the flat once we’ve got the yet-to-be-bought IKEA furniture up and arranged. How’s that for a deal?

Too tired to type

I am going to tell you about our experiences with various flats at some point – promise – but it’s been such a tiring week (despite my half day on Monday and the fact that it’s only Thursday – tomorrow being a Good Friday and therefore a holiday) that right now I’m too tired to think, never mind form coherent sentences. I’m very much looking forward to four whole days of lie ins! Not so much to all the dissertation work that’s waiting to be done during my long weeknd, but you can’t have everything, and I’m hoping to persuade the boyfriend to drive me to Roller on Saturday so I can buy a wardrobe. We’re supposed to be saving up for the move and the big holiday in August but I’m getting €445 back from the electricity company (I knew I hadn’t been using nearly as much as I’ve been paying for!) so I think I can spare a few euros for a wardrobe. And maybe a few more if I happen to see a bedside table I like.
Right now, though, I really must do some washing…

Dashing through the snow? Not in these shoes!

I would like to dash through the snow, I really would. Instead the best I can manage is a kind of half stagger, half slide thype thing that looks utterly ridiculous but at least hasn’t landed my on my backside… yet. You see, the boots I wear for work, beautiful as they are, are not suitable for snow. They’re not particulalry suitable for the incredibly slippery, mushed by tyres, may once have been snow substance that lies in wait for them right outside work either. But never mind, I shall get through this. Only two days til the weekend.

So, first day back at work. It wasn’t too bad I guess. People were nice to me. I didn’t get in any trouble. These are good things. I still spent the whole day worrying that I was doing something wrong though (I know, I really must stop that!). Mostly I felt like I was working incredibly s-l-o-w-l-y. Not really surprising when you consider what I was doing. Did you know you can get dizzy from reading? I didn’t. But after proofreading 15 page of contract I was feeling decidedly light-headed. I started at 10 past 9 and didn’t finish until 3pm. Okay, so there was half an hour for lunch in there somewhere, but still. Definitely too slow. Oh well, at least tomorrow I get to read technical texts. They aren’t so bad – at least I don’t have to read every sentence six times purely to figure out what they’re even on about. And that’s just the German original. I won’t get into the English part or I’ll never shut up. It’s a good job I managed to get lots done yesterday cos somehow I can’t see this being an evening of achievement. I’m too tired to think never mind work on assignments!

Oh well, I suppose I’d better go and find something to eat that isn’t chocolate covered, jam filled gingerbread hearts.
